PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Dear Colleagues, Thank you for visiting our website. The Fairfield County Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals serves fundraising professionals engaged in making our community, our nation, and our world a better place in Fairfield County. We strive to advance philanthropy by enabling people and organizations to practice ethical and effective fundraising. Our chapter offers opportunities for those engaged in fundraising to learn, to share, to exchange and enhance their individual and organizational capacity to provide resources for their respective missions.
The Fairfield County Chapter holds the prestigious Ten Star Rating in the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), an international organization, recognized and the leader in promoting ethical and effective fundraising. The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) represents more than 30,000 members in 197 chapters in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and China working to advance philanthropy through advocacy, research, education, and certification programs.
This chapter is led by a volunteer board of outstanding professionals and it is my privilege to serve as president this year. During 2008 we will continue to provide the excellent programs and services developed by past leadership.
Thanks to the efforts of immediate Past President, Vic D’Ascenzo and former President, Joy Nazzaro, we will complete a strategic plan to achieve our 2010 goals. We encourage you to be a part of developing this strategic plan by participating on one of the sub-committees actively engaged in this process.
AFP is a membership organization which will only be as effective as its membership participation. Our goal this year is to improve member satisfaction through member involvement. We hope to see you at our luncheons, web conferences, the Philanthropy Day Luncheon and the National Philanthropy Day Conference.
Our board and volunteer committees are working diligently to keep our programs and services on the cutting edge of trends and changes in our profession. We encourage you to be an active participating part of this process. To paraphrase Mahatma Gandhi, Be the change you wish to see in the world, Be an active member.
